Twilight Nandina is a beautiful dwarf evergreen with fine foliage like bamboo ā but it isnāt invasive. It grows almost anywhere in the garden, and it has irregular white markings all over the green leaves. That frosty look becomes even more intense in winter, before the new shoots of delicate bronzy pink emerge in spring. It can have sprays of white flowers, but it doesnāt make seeds. Grow this plant from zone 6 onwards, as an edging plant for beds, edging for walks and drives, or as foreground planting anywhere. Use it in full sun, partial shade, or full light shade, where its bright look will add interest and light to dull places. It is also excellent grown in planter boxes and pots. It is indispensable in Asian-themed gardens.
Grow the Twilight Nandina in almost all light conditions, from full sun to full light shade. Plant it in any soil that is not too dry. It prefers moist, richer soils, but it will grow easily almost anywhere. Once established it is resistant to normal summer drought periods, and it has no pests or diseases. No pruning or trimming is needed, as it is naturally dense and compact, but you can remove any stems that become too tall by cutting them at ground level. This will encourage new, young stems to grow from the base and keep your plants compact and bushy.
