The Yuzu Citrus Tree is a unique and rare citrus plant that comes from Japan and Korea. There it is widely used in everything from drinks and sauces to desserts. It can also be used as a novel substitute for lemons or limes in other recipes. The tree itself is the most hardy citrus there is, growing well all through zone 8. It grows into a small tree or bush, no more than 12 feet tall, and has fragrant white blossoms in spring. The large, yellow fruit ripen in winter, and can be left on the tree or stored in a cool place for weeks. This tree can also be grown in a large pot, and it does not need to be brought inside until the temperatures fall to freezing point. Keep it indoors in a cool, brightly-lit place during the coldest weather, not in the heat of your house. Keep it outdoors in a sunny place the rest of the year. This is an easy to grow, attractive plant that is going to be seen much more frequently, so be the first on your block to have a Yuzu in your garden.

  • Exotic Asian citrus fruit
  • Skin and juice have a unique flavor and fragrance
  • The hardiest of all citrus ā€“ to zone 8
  • Easily grown in the ground or a pot
  • Fruits ripen during the winter months

The Yuzu Citrus tree will grow best in a sunny place, but it will even grow well and make fruit in partial shade. It needs a well-drained, slightly acidic soil to thrive, and in a pot it should be grown in citrus-tree potting soil, and fed with citrus fertilizer. Use a pot with a drainage hole and let the soil dry a little between each watering. Always water well each time you water your tree. This plant will not normally be bothered by pests or diseases, and it is easy to grow, yet attractive and very novel.
