The Carolina Sapphire Arizona Cypress is the most drought-resistant evergreen available, and it tolerated heat and drought like no other plant can. It grows into a charming open tree, with layered branches and lacy, silver-blue foliage that billows in the wind. It will grow to about 30 feet tall, and puts on lots of growth when young – up to 2 feet a year. It is ideal for windbreaks, screens, and as a specimen tree. Use it in hot, exposed places for easy beauty.
Full sun is best for the Carolina Sapphire Arizona Cypress, which thrives in the hottest summer conditions. Once established it is very drought tolerant, and it also survives low temperatures into zone 6. It is resistant to the deadly Cypress canker disease, and other pests or diseases, as well as deer, are not a problem. This tough plant grows in very poor soils, and does best in well-drained ground, so don’t plant it in wet places.
