The Miss Ellen Wilmott Lilac is a spectacular and beautiful French Lilac with enormous heads of pure white blooms. Pale green in bud, the huge flower spikes top every branch, and open to reveal hundreds of large, double blossoms of a pure snowy white. The perfume is rich and sweet, and this plant can be kept no more than 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide with some simple pruning. It may grow to 12 feet tall if left unpruned. It is ideal for a lawn specimen, planted around the foundations of your home, or at the back of a shrub bed. White bushes are perfect for commemorative planting, and this one is a top choice.

  • Pale green buds open to pure white blossoms
  • Double flowers on enormous bloom heads
  • Upright habit for narrower spaces
  • Invaluable for gardens in colder zones
  • Excellent choice to commemorate a special occasion

The Miss Ellen Wilmott Lilac is very cold resistant, growing well even in zone 3, but also growing easily in all but the hottest parts of the country. It is a good choice for the mid-west, and in other areas where cold is an issue. It grows easily in ordinary well-drained garden soil, and it has some drought resistance once it is established. Removing the spent flower heads immediately after flowering will keep it blooming well every year. Some pruning at that time will invigorate the bush, keeping it healthy and compact.
