The Lemony Lace® Elderberry is a sight to behold. Its gorgeous lacy foliage emerges dusky pink in spring, quickly turning bright yellow, and then slowly changing to a rich chartreuse green for summer. It resists scorching in full sun, so it always looks great, and its height can be controlled between 3 and 6 feet tall and wide. Plant it as a feature in shrub beds, or in less formal areas bordering woodlands. It can also be used in planters, and as a single plant, or in groups, its ‘drop-dead’ beauty will stop you in your tracks.
Plant the Lemony Lace® Elderberry in regular garden soil, which can be moist, but should be well-drained, especially in colder zones. Plant in full sun or partial shade. The colors will become greener the shadier the location is. It is moderately drought resistant when established, but benefits from regular watering during hot, dry spells. Pests and diseases are normally never a problem, and deer don’t bother it. Some die-back of branches in zone 4 is normal, and plants quickly re-sprout from the base.
