The Pugster® White Butterfly combines a neat, sturdy and compact form with giant foot-long spikes of flowers. The bush is just 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide, and from mid-summer right into the fall it is covered with an endless succession of conical spikes of pure white flowers. These are highly fragrant, and they attract butterflies, other insects and hummingbirds – it will turn your garden into a zoo that children will love. The white blooms are especially lovely in the evening, when they glow in the fading light.
Full sun is perfect for the Pugster® White Butterfly Bush, which thrives in heat. It grows rapidly and strongly in any well-drained soil, including poor soils, urban soils and sands and gravels too. In cold zones its winter survival is enhanced by growing in well-drained soil, but this variety is more cold-resistant than many others. Pests and diseases are normally absent, and simple spring pruning is all the care needed. Dead-heading is recommended to prevent seeding and to promote maximum bloom production.
