The Madame Galen Trumpet Vine is a vigorous, large twining vine reaching 15 to 30 feet within a few years. It has attractive glossy green divided foliage that turns golden yellow in fall, and from mid-summer through the fall it has trusses of many large trumpet-shaped blooms that are spectacular shades of rich orange-red. It is ideal for covering trellis on sunny walls, growing on pergolas or fences, and letting scramble into a dead tree.
Full sun is best for the Madame Galen Trumpet Vine, but it will tolerate a little partial shade. It grows best in hot, sunny places with long summers, and in poor to average well-drained soil. Although some moisture is beneficial, once established it is drought resistant and thrives with little attention. Pests and diseases donāt trouble it, and a hard pruning in spring will keep it under control and encourage lots of blooms.
