The Patti O Box™ Japanese Holly is a wonderful miniature version of the ‘Sky Pencil’ Holly, just perfect when you want a small, very narrow and upright evergreen shrub as a small accent. Plant it in a bed with other small shrubs, or of course put it right into your patio box, alone or with flowers, for some easy height and interest. The tiny leaves and bushy habit are exactly in scale with the small size of the plant itself, which will grow to just 3 or 4 feet tall, as a very narrow pyramid, only one or two feet wide at the base, with branches right to the ground. It can even be used to create a small, very narrow hedge in a small town-garden, or used in planter boxes with other shrubs on a balcony or terrace.
The Patti O Box™ Japanese Holly is easy to grow in full sun or partial shade to well-lit full shade. It grows in most well-drained soils, or in regular potting soil in planter boxes. Water regularly when young, and established plants can tolerate short periods of drier conditions. It has no usual pests or diseases, and this plant is incredibly easy to grow by anyone. It needs no trimming to keep its neat appearance, but for perfect symmetry it can be lightly trimmed from time to time.
