The Purrsian Blue Catmint will bring a smile of contentment to your face when you see the gorgeous blue spikes topping a bowl-shaped mound of silvery foliage. Small and tight in the first years, it expands quickly into a 3-foot mound of enormous beauty. Ideal for fronting borders, or edging paths and drives. Use it on slopes and banks, in sunny rock gardens and mixed among perennials as the perfect ‘binding color’ to tie your arrangements together. Not the true catnip, but still popular with most cats, and so much more attractive. One of the easiest and most reliable of all perennials, this variety is much more compact and neat than the older, sprawling types.
The Purrsian Blue Catmint thrives in full sun, and enjoys drier soils, but not total drought. It’s tolerant of most soils that are well-drained, but prefers poorer soils, where it grows more compact and densely. Normally untroubled by pests, simply trim lightly after that first flush in early summer, and then cut to the ground in late fall. Normally ignored by deer and rabbits, but adored by butterflies and bees.
