The Knock Out® Roses are well-known for toughness, disease-resistance and endless blooming, so they are naturals for making tree roses. Raised on strong trunks that make great bushes for beds or large pots, and it was hard to decide which one to use. But we settled on creating the Rainbow Knock Out® Rose Tree, because the stunning beauty of the large single blooms gives a very different look, and the beautiful coral pink of the flowers, emphasized by the yellow centers, makes for a fantastic center-piece in a bed, and looks fabulous in a planter box too. 2 inches across, the profusion of blooms has to be seen to be believed, and even then you will be amazed. In bloom constantly, from early summer well into the fall, this bush is always a delight, full of simple charm, and it’s sure to catch the attention of everyone, even non-gardeners.
It grows into a rounded crown up to 4 feet tall and wide, topping a short trunk to make a substantial contribution to your garden. Lush with deep green foliage with a satiny sheen, those leaves will stay fresh and green all season, thanks to the great resistance of this rose to the major diseases, being especially resistant to the dreaded black-spot.
Full sun is what suits the Rainbow Knock Out® Tree Rose best, and gives maximum blooming. Plant in well-prepared soil, using plenty of garden compost or other organic materials to improve the soil. Rich, moist, but well-drained soils are best, including clay soils, which roses love. If you grow it in a large pot, use a blend of potting soil and 25% garden soil for the best results. Roses are always best if regularly fertilized, using liquid foods for plantneemers and slow-release granular foods when planted in the garden. With great disease resistance, you won’t need to spray, and any minor pests can be easily controlled with our Neem Oil ready-to-use spray bottle. Prune just as the buds are swelling, in spring, removing about half the length of the branches, to leave a strong framework of thicker branches, removing all thin and weak growth.
