A classic variety, the Red June Plum Tree is exactly that – warm red fruits produced as an early crop, ready by June. Why wait any longer, when you can be eating sweet, delicious plums right from your garden by the end of spring? Bite into these big fruits and enjoy the juicy, tangy flesh – so refreshing on a hot day. Fast-growing, producing upwards of 50 pounds of fruit within a few years, this Japanese plum is easy to grow and self-fertile – although another variety of Japanese plum nearby may increase the yield even more. The fragrant white flowers on the bare branches in spring are a delicate delight, and you can use this tree for eating fresh, juicing, canning, baking and even to make wine.

  • Bright red fruit that’s ready to eat in June
  • Fast-growing, giving big crops in just a few years
  • A classic variety originally introduced from Japan
  • Fragrant white flowers on bare branches in spring
  • Self-fertile, but a bigger crop if another Japanese variety is nearby

Plant your Red June Plum Tree in full sun, in any well-drained soil. Plums enjoy richer, loamy soils, so add plenty of compost when planting. Water your new tree regularly, and don’t let your tree become dry in spring and when ripening the crop. Limited resistance to diseases. Pests can be easily and safely controlled with Neem Oil spray. Prune in spring when young, as new leaves are just emerging, and prune older trees in June, after harvesting. Develop your tree into a vase-shape, to fully ripen the whole crop, and reduce new stems by one-third to keep it compact and bearing well.
