Wells Special Hinoki Cypress is a slender upright evergreen, passing 15 feet tall in time, and hardly more than 5 feet wide. It has elegant rounded sprays of foliage densely placed from top to bottom, with a single central trunk. The foliage is rich emerald green all year round, and brighter green in spring. It is a wonderful specimen tree on a lawn, in beds, on banks and slopes, or beside wooded areas. It makes an attractive āno-trimā hedge or screen, and it has the grace and beauty for an Asian-themed garden space.
Plant Wells Special Hinoki Cypress in full sun or with some afternoon shade, especially in hot zones. It grows best in moist, rich, well-drained soil, but is perfectly tolerant of ordinary garden conditions. It has some drought resistance once well-established, but appreciates regular watering during hot, dry weather. Pests or diseases cause no problems, and it is normally ignored by deer. No trimming is needed or recommended for this tree, which is naturally neat and slender.
